Katsura

Katsuras are native to China and Japan, although they are currently considered to be endangered in China. They are typically ornamental shrubs but are also grown in Japan for timber. Katsura foliage changes color multiple times throughout the year, from deep red in the spring to green in the summer and finally bright yellow in the fall, when the leaves emit a sweet smell, which is often described as smelling like caramel, brown sugar, or even cotton candy.
